The Hunger Games-Suzanne Collins, Rated: PG-13

In the land were America once stood, there is a new country called Panem, consisting of 12 districts and a Capitol. The districts are slaves to the Capitol, forced to do their work.  Once a year a boy and a girl must be sent to the Capitol for the Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live television.  Sixteen year old Katniss is a poacher in district 12. She hunts for her sister and mother. When her sister is chosen for the hunger games katniss dos'e  something irrational; she volunteers to take her sister's place. In the hunger games losing is death.  Now she must survive the hunger games, which means twenty-three other people will die.

This book is thrilling, and scary. I loved it! The plot twist every which way. You never know what will happen next. The characters are so realistic you find your self rooting for some, and terrified of others. The action of the book is just breathtaking, it is so exciting. The thought of going to a fight to the death is so frightening, it's hard to think what if you were in Katniss's place.

There is a lot of death, obviously, and a lot of gore. There is drinking in the book.  One character is drunk all the time. There are also some implied swear words too, but you never read them. There is mild kissing, but nothing to graphic(in that department at least) It is very graphic in death scenes, and the tributes (the kids from the Hunger Games) deaths are very bloody.

In recap, the hunger games is a thrilling novel, with a winding plot, and extremely well developed characters. it has some gore, lots of death, implied swear words, drinking, and some kissing. I think it is a good book because we can learn from it, don't dehumanize people.  I would not recommend for kids under 13, but it is highly recommended for everyone else. It is a partial romantic-action-adventure novel. Rated PG-13 for intense violence and fighting, frightening sequences, some nudity, and gory deaths.
Now some questions. What if you were in the hunger games? Would you be the winner?
This has been my review, bye Bri!
