Does everyone else have that voice in there head?

It's hard to explain what it is exactly,  it's like a little voice that says what I'm thinking, but I cant really tell what gender it is because it's sort of like a whisper and it doesn't have any real substance, anyone know what I'm talking about? I think mines a girl. It doesn't have a specific tone but I hear her and she says what ever I'm thinking. Or if I'm reading she says what I read. She quotes things too, movies, and books and TV shows. Anyone else have a voice? I'm not crazy, and she never says to do bad stuff, she just verbalizes what I'm thinking or sprouts a random quotes. Does everyone have one? just wondering, and I'm not totally crazy, it's just that's what I hear when ever I think. Just a whispering voice. Sometimes it's a specific persons voice, but mostly it's just a unrecognizable voice. Some times it has actual substance, like I'm hearing it like it's an actual person, but mostly just in my head. that's usually when it's a specific persons voice. When it's specific it's like my dad or my mom or other family members. normally it's a girl, but occasionally it's a guy, often my dad. I've never told anyone about it before, but, I've just been wondering about it recently. It's not like Max's voice, it doesn't give me helpful information (or annoying either) it does bring up random memories sometimes. But thats it. Just wondering. so If you have a voice to, tell me! I want to know If everyone else has a voice. and if so, do you know what gender it is? or if it's a specific person? Well bye Bri π

P.S. It isn't new, I've had it for as long as I can remember. Is this a bad thing? Oh and sometimes she argues with herself or I guess me

  1. You aren't crazy...well, if you are I guess I am too, because I hear a voice in my head like telling me what I'm reading, if I'm not reading aloud. I guess I've had it since I've learned to read. I don't really know if it's a guy of a girl. It's just a voice to me, it changes every once in a while, like, if I'm reading about different people in a book, lets say one is a girl that has a very thick Spanish accent, and the other (a boy) had a New York accent, I hear their accents in my head...So, I don't think you're crazy, :).

  2. Nope, not crazy. I theorize that since we first learned speech, and then reading, that we translate letters, - codes - into verbalized words. As I read your post it was your voice, and as I read Musical's it was hers, and now as I write this, it's mine. I hadn't thought much about this before, but I think it's normal. I usually hear my own voice, or that of whoever I'm thinking about or reading about. Wikipedia's voice is a professional sounding type guy. It's normal, I think. I wouldn't worry unless it started saying things other than what your thinking, like schizophrenia ;) (kidding). I also give some words and letters and numbers their own colors, like 5 is red, the word Musical is pink, and the letter A is green. Weird, I know.

    1. Meg! You must have Synesthesia!! That is so cool!!! it's not weird at all!! It's a mental, well not really a disease but a mental state were letter, words, numbers, and various other things have colors. I don't have it but you I guess do!! Cool!!

    2. Oh and I've had my voice since before I could read, I remember it when I was really little like when Morgan was first born and when I was in preschool. Does it count as schizophrenia when you argue with your voice? ;) I do that some times. Mostly when she say's something about boys. Then I tell her to shut up.

  3. Woah. I looked up synesthesia and it was weird. I can relate to that, but I'm not sure if that's the same as my thinking. Like, I don't really see the letter or number in that color when it's written, but I think of it as a certain color. In my head it's that color. Does that count?
